Virginia Andrade is a mature artist whose connection to abstract expressionism has evolved into her current body of work. Utilizing the effects of time and wear, she explores the commonly held belief that aging is an unattractive circumstance to be avoided.
The quest for a new reality has developed her work “Disposition of Age.” Andrade keeps her focus on the imprinting of time and age rubbing against the elements. Her techniques produce paintings / assemblages reflecting the results. The surfaces provide the viewer a new awareness and sensitivity to the mysteries of aging. We begin to sense our individual response to some unknown connection to the past.
